1st Watchfield & Shrivenham

1st Watchfield and Shrivenham are the westernmost Scout Group of the King Alfred’s (KA’s) District. We cover the area of Watchfield, Shrivenham and the surrounding Villages.

We have a two thriving Beavers Colonies, Cub Packs and Scout Troops, all of which meet at our Scout Hut on the Defence Academy, during term time.

Beaver Scouts – Age 6 to 8

  • Barrington – Mondays – 5:30 to 6:45 pm
  • Beckett – Tuesdays – 5:45 to 6:45 pm

Cub Scouts – Age 8 to 10.5

  • Chieftain – Wednesdays – 6.45 to 8.15 pm
  • Challenger – Thursdays – 6.45 to 8.15 pm

Scouts – Age 10.5 to 14

  • Scouts – Mondays – 7pm to 9pm
  • Scouts – Tuesdays – 7pm to 9pm

Being a rural community; our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are very active in the outdoors, and frequently enjoy hikes, camps and bike rides in the surrounding countryside.

All the leaders are volunteers, and we rely upon occasional support from parents throughout the year.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
