Williams F1 Family Day

Date: 2nd Jul 2023 Author: Doron Jensen

1st Cuckhamsley Scouts,  Grove Sea Scouts, and the Ridgeway Explorer Scout sections, were all invited to an internal family fun day at the Williams factory on the outskirts of Grove.

The Scouts were there to work, and were responsible for guiding the visitors on site, answering queries and reminding guests of the “no photography” rule within the factory. There was plenty of ‘off duty’ time alongside these responsibilities though, to enjoy the event with simulators, toy car racing, exotic animals, and more.  Refreshments were freely available to all attendees.

One of the scout parents was given some feedback from a Williams family: “It was great to have the Scouts there, helping and getting involved, they were all lovely”

Our Scout Leader was especially excited about the wind tunnel: “Did you see the wind tunnel, you were able to go through the veins of the fan, it was huge, it was marvellous!”

As a thank you for our work on the day, Williams F1 have kindly promised to invite us back for a private site visit.  Can’t wait!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
