Royal International Air Tattoo 2022

Date: 17th Jul 2022 Author: Doron Jensen

One of the Groups from King Alfred District were very fortunate to get tickets from the RAF Charitable Trust to the Royal International Air Tattoo, just down the road at RAF Fairford in July 2022. It was a blazing hot sunny day, and the Scouts were thrilled to see all sorts of modern fighter aircraft, helicopters and transports – both in the air and on the ground. There were historical planes too, from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The RAF zone was full of activities and personnel demonstrating their roles. The display teams were fabulous and we had front row seats from one of the hospitality enclosures. Finally there were lots of static aircraft and trade stands to wander around. A great day out!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
